The Black Market Peso exchange is the name given to a very common money laundering scheme that is often found in schemes involving hawala, the Chop, Fei Chi'en and similar money transfer techniques. In this programme, we look at the explanation of the scheme by FinCEN, the USA's Financial Intelligence Unit which famously uncovered what was then thought to be the largest payment system used by the Colombian drugs cartels shipping Cocaine to the USA.
