SEC's Director of Enforcement "departs" abruptly.
Monday, 20 January, 2025 - 01:19
Sanjay Wadhwa has worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission for 21 years. He's risen through the ranks to become the Acting Director of the Division of Enforcement.
Yet, on 17th January, 2025 it was announced that he would "depart" on 31 January 2025. That's a notice period of two weeks, so perhaps some kind of waiver of a notice period has been agreed.
SEC Chairman, Gary Gensler, himself on his way out, wished Wadhwa well.
Wadhwa has served as Acting Director of Enforcement since October 2024 and, before that, served as the Division’s Deputy Director since August 2021.
No reason is given for his departure.
So that's intriguing.
