ASIC bans former CEO

ASIC, Australia’s company and financial sector regulator has banned a former director from the financial industry after a dishonesty conviction.

Mark Peter Thomas formerly CEO of van Eyk Research has been banned from performing any function involved in the operation of a financial services business or credit provider, or controlling, whether alone or with others, an entity that operates a financial services business or provides credit in Australia.

Thomas was sentenced to one year and three months’ imprisonment, to be served by way of an Intensive Correction Order which avoids jail, for dishonestly using his position as a director of a New Zealand ubsidiary with the intention of directly or indirectly obtaining an advantage for himself.
